1) Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using our website, subscribing to our communications, making a contribution, submitting content, or otherwise engaging with our services, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2) Contributions, Campaigns, and Payment Processing
We accept voluntary financial contributions to support our programs, productions, and stated fundraising campaigns, including The Fellowship.
- Payment processing. Online payments are processed by Stripe. By submitting a contribution, you authorize Stripe and its financial partners to charge the payment method you select. We receive transaction information, but we do not store full payment-card or bank-account numbers on our servers.
- Not currently tax-deductible. The First Freedom Foundation has not yet received recognition from the Internal Revenue Service as an organization described in section 501(c)(3). Contributions made at this time are not represented as tax-deductible charitable contributions. Please consult your own tax adviser.
- No goods, ownership, or control. Unless a campaign expressly states otherwise, a contribution is a voluntary gift and does not purchase goods or services, create an investment or ownership interest, establish employment or a fiduciary relationship, or grant control over our programs, productions, finances, or editorial decisions.
- Use of funds. We intend to use campaign contributions for the purposes described on the applicable campaign page. Budgets, schedules, production plans, and allocations may change in good faith as circumstances require. Unless we expressly agree otherwise in writing, contributions are not restricted gifts.
- Refunds. Contributions are generally final. If you believe a contribution was unauthorized, duplicated, or made in error, contact us promptly. We may issue a refund at our discretion or when required by law.
- Currency and fees. Unless otherwise displayed, amounts are in U.S. dollars. Your bank or payment provider may impose separate conversion or transaction fees.
3) Supporter Recognition and Screen Acknowledgments
Some campaigns may offer optional public acknowledgment based on contribution level. Recognition is an expression of thanks—not compensation or a professional production credit.
- We will publish or display a supporter’s name only when the supporter has opted in or otherwise given permission. Supporters may remain anonymous.
- Supporters are responsible for providing the display name they are authorized to use. We may decline or edit names that are unlawful, misleading, infringing, discriminatory, obscene, or inconsistent with the purpose of the campaign.
- Recognition categories may be based on cumulative qualifying contributions to the relevant campaign. Inclusion may be subject to stated deadlines, production schedules, space, format, technical limitations, and platform requirements.
- Acknowledgments such as “Special Thanks,” “Production Supporter,” “Production Partner,” or “Presenting Supporter” do not confer a producer position, guild status, authorship, ownership, employment, creative approval, editorial control, revenue participation, or other legal or professional rights.
- We will make reasonable efforts to provide promised acknowledgments, but we may adjust placement, grouping, wording, duration, or format when reasonably necessary. If an acknowledgment cannot be provided, the underlying contribution remains subject to the refund terms above unless otherwise required by law.
4) Email Communications
If you join a mailing list, you consent to receive the communications described on the signup form. You may unsubscribe at any time through the link in an email or by contacting us. Transactional messages about a contribution, security, or a request you make are not promotional messages and may still be sent when necessary.
5) User Submissions
Submitting Content
If you submit content to us, including news tips, documents, photos, videos, comments, testimonials, or a requested display name:
- You confirm that the information you provide is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
- You confirm that you have the right or permission to share the content with us for journalistic, educational, advocacy, fundraising, or promotional purposes, even if you do not own the copyright.
- You remain responsible for the material you submit and for avoiding disclosure of personal information you are not authorized to share.
License to Use
By submitting content for publication or use, you grant FFF a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, adapt, edit, publish, display, and distribute it for our journalistic, educational, advocacy, fundraising, and promotional purposes, in any media now known or later developed. This license does not transfer your ownership of the content.
Editorial Rights
We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to review, edit, decline, remove, or stop using submissions at our discretion.
6) User Conduct
You agree not to misuse the site or submit material that:
- Violates applicable law, facilitates fraud, contains direct threats, or exploits children.
- You know is materially false or defamatory.
- Infringes another person’s intellectual-property, privacy, publicity, or other rights without a lawful basis to share it.
- Contains malicious code, spam, or attempts to interfere with the site’s operation or security.
Human-rights reporting may involve documenting violence, abuse, persecution, or government wrongdoing. Good-faith submissions of such material for journalistic or advocacy purposes are not prohibited merely because the subject matter is disturbing.
7) Intellectual Property
Unless otherwise noted, content on this site belongs to FFF or is used with permission. You may not copy, republish, sell, or redistribute it except as permitted by law or with our permission. We encourage sharing brief excerpts or quotations when accompanied by clear attribution to The First Freedom Foundation and a link to the original page.
8) Comments, Forums, and Interactive Features
Where comments, forums, or other interactive features are available, you agree to keep discussions respectful and on-topic and not engage in harassment, impersonation, spam, or malicious activity. We may moderate or remove content and restrict access at our discretion.
9) Third-Party Services and Links
The site may contain embedded media, payment services, links, or other features provided by third parties, including Stripe and YouTube. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party sites, services, availability, security, or content.
10) Disclaimers
We strive for accuracy and responsible editorial practices, but we do not guarantee that the site, campaign information, third-party material, or user submissions will be complete, current, uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. The site and its content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind to the extent permitted by law. Nothing on the site is legal, tax, financial, medical, or other professional advice.
11) Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, FFF and its officers, directors, personnel, contractors, and affiliates will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from or related to use of the site, reliance on its content, third-party services, participation in our activities, or inability to use the site. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
12) Age Restrictions
You must be at least 13 years old to submit personal information or participate in interactive features. If you are under 18, you may make a contribution or submit content only with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian.
13) Suspension and Termination
We may suspend or terminate access to interactive features, mailing lists, or other services if you violate these Terms, misuse our services, threaten security, or where suspension is reasonably necessary to protect FFF or others.
14) Governing Law and Venue
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Unless applicable law requires otherwise, disputes arising from these Terms or the site will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Utah, and you consent to their jurisdiction.
15) Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version and update the “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the site after revised Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
