1) Information We Collect

Newsletter subscriptions. If you subscribe to the Belief Brief, we collect your email address and, if you provide it, your first name (to personalize messages and your unsubscribe link).

Basic analytics (self-hosted). Our locally hosted analytics software records IP address, browser type/version, device information, referring/exit pages, and timestamps. We use this to operate, secure, and improve the site. This data is kept on our servers and is not sent to third-party analytics platforms.

Cookies. We use essential session cookies to keep the site functioning (e.g., remembering that you’re on a page). We do not use advertising or behavioral tracking cookies.

We do not intentionally collect sensitive categories of personal information.

2) How We Use Information

  • Send the newsletter (Belief Brief) and personalize greetings/unsubscribe links.

  • Invite you to events (ours or partner events) and share advocacy/action alerts.

  • Maintain security and reliability of the website (fraud/abuse prevention, diagnostics).

  • Understand aggregate usage trends to improve content and user experience.

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.

3) When We Share Information

We don’t share your information except with service providers who help us operate the site and communications, under agreements that restrict their use of your data to our instructions:

  • Email delivery: Mailgun (for sending email).

  • Caching & performance: Cloudflare (for site performance and protection).

If we add other vendors in the future, we will update this policy.

4) Donations (Future Feature)

When online donations are enabled, payments will be processed by a third-party payment processor. We will not store your full payment card numbers on our servers. We’ll disclose the processor’s name and link to their privacy policy at that time.

5) Your Choices & Rights

  • Unsubscribe anytime. Use the link at the bottom of our emails or contact us at [email protected].

  • Access/Update/Delete. Email us to request a copy of your data, corrections, or deletion from our systems.

  • Email preferences. Ask us to change how often we contact you or what we send.

If you are in a jurisdiction with specific privacy rights (e.g., EEA/UK/EU or certain U.S. states), contact us and we will honor requests as required by applicable law.

6) Data Retention

  • Newsletter data (email, name if provided): kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

  • Analytics data: stored locally and retained for the period needed to operate, secure, and improve the site, after which it is deleted or aggregated.

7) Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to help protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we avoid over-promising and continually work to improve our safeguards.

8) Children’s Privacy

Our website and newsletter are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, please contact us and we’ll delete it.

9) International Visitors

We are based in the United States. By using our site or subscribing to our newsletter, you understand your information may be processed in the U.S. where laws may differ from those in your country.

10) Do-Not-Track

Many browsers offer a Do-Not-Track (DNT) setting. We don’t use behavioral advertising or profiling, and our site operates the same for DNT and non-DNT traffic.

11) Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes, we’ll update the effective date above and, when appropriate, notify you (for example, via the site or email). Your continued use of the site after changes are posted means you accept the updated policy.
